Oil on board
Among the themes of Richard’s ministry were the concepts of compassionate care and “justice”. Biblically speaking, the word for justice simply means to do what is right, proper and fitting for those who, because of their station in life, have neither the wherewithal nor ability to secure it or do it for themselves. In other words, those who need justice also need and advocate. The prophet Micah challenges us with these words: “He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and walk humbly with your God”(Micah 6:8) Acting justly requires action. But how and to whom should just actions be demonstrated? Deuteronomy 10:18 offer us these observations: “He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the alien, giving him food and clothing.”
