September 2006, my mom passed away at the age of 75 from pancreatic cancer.
During my grieving process, I began to collect some of her personal things and to incorporate them into a collaged art piece.
I call it MOM.
I took an image of my daughter in her ninth month of pregnancy with her first born and collaged the figure with Mom’s personal things I’d kept to remind me of her. I used her watercolor paper that she had used to test her colors, leaves she had collected for many years from the autumn colors of Maine and New Hampshire and
stamps from all over the world, saved from the many letters I had written to her.
I used photographs of her own paintings as the skirt.
The background is acrylic.
This art piece represents three generations, my mom, my daughter, and my first granddaughter, oh yes an myself.
